The death of Mrs. Fannie Eliza [ Fenton] Johnson, widow of R.H. Johnson, occurred at the family home, North Main street, Sunday evening at 6:15, o'clock, aged 55 years [ October 4, 1903 ]. She leaves two daughters, Miss Ella M. Johnson and Mrs. Fred W. Dewey. Mrs. Johnson was well known and highly regarded by a large circle of friends who will mourn her death, which was preceded only a few weeks by the death of her husband [Robert H. Johnson, who died on August 19, 1903]. In the sudden death of both parents the two daughters have the sincere sympathy of the community. Deceased was a member of the National Protective Legion, Daughters of Liberty,???unreadable????, and the Union Veteran legion auxiliary. The funeral will be held from the late home Tuesday at 4 p.m. Friends will be given an opportunity to view the remains tomorrow from 12 to 2." Eliza Johnson was held from the late home, North Main street, Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, Rev. James G. Townsend, D.D. officiating. Music was furnished by the choir of the First Presbyterian church. The bearers were Fred G. Bush, William H. Truesdell, Frank McKensie, Dr. Jason Parker, L.K. Forbush and John F. Smith. Delegations from the U.V.L. auxiliary and the Daughters of Liberty attended and sent beautiful floral offerings. The attendance of friends was large and there was a profusion of flowers. Burial was in Lake View cemetery. Among those present from out of the city were Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Davis of Ellery, Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Pelham of Buffalo, Mrs. O.H. Carpenter of Point Whiteside, Mrs. W.W. Hunt of Bemus Point, Mrs. Cadwell of Point Chautauqua and H.P. Fenton of Stow."
