She was the widow of Clarence S. Matteson, whom she married Oct. 21, 1931, in Forestville, and who died Oct. 21, 1991. A lifelong area resident, she was born Aug. 9, 1905, in the town of Ellington, the daughter of Grant and Lena White Shelters. She attended Kennedy schools, and the Kennedy United Methodist church. She was a former member of the Diamond Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Mighells of Randolph; seven grandchildren: 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a daughter Darlene Unger who died Feb. 8, 2002; and two brothers: Raymond and Frederick Shelters. Burial will be in the Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.
