Wells, 80, a lifelong Chautauqua County resident, died peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk, NY. He was born July 20, 1927 in Silver Creek, the son of the late James M. and Emma Anderson Wells. A graduate of Silver Creek Schools and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute, Jim was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran. He spent the majority of his working years as an Inventory and Production Control Manager. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed spending time with his dogs and walking on the beach at Hanford Bay. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Silver Creek, he was president of the local chapter of Aid Association for Lutherans. Jim also was a Silver Creek Boy Scout leader, a member of the VFW Samuel Cimino Post of Silver Creek, a member of the Hanford Bay Association and he served on the Town of Hanover Sewer Board. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Gloria Brown Wells; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Loi! s Wells; sister-in-law Lee Wells; two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Dr. Victor Veloso of Hudson, NH and Kathleen and Mark Hanchett of Peoria, AZ; seven grandchildren, Elliott, Elia, Derryck and Emily Veloso, Kaitlyn, Craig and Jacob Hanchett; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Archibald and Richard Wells; sisters Ione Ward and Ruby Wells Swanson; nephew Richard "Dick" Wells and niece Ruth Swanson Dunkle.
