He was kind, affectionate, and a great lover of the works of nature. Mr PUTNEY was a self educated man, and his large store of knowledge was acquired in very embarassing circumstance. Being poor and having to labor hard, his only place of study was the chimney corner in the night time. He qualified himself to teach Shakespeare, Milton, Watts and other eminent writers. He leaves 3 sons 2 daughters and several grandchildren to mourn his loss.
