I just received a copy of the full Federal Military Pension Application for their son Lucius D. HORTON. From this application, I learned that Lucius was born 15 May 1848 in Gerry, lived in Warsaw, Rice Co., MN until enlistment on 15 August 1864, and discharged honorably on 26 June 1865 in Gallatin, TN. Per his Federal Military Pension Application, Lucius lived in Minnestoa until 1868 and since then resided in Montana except two years, 1883 - 1884, in Oregon. He had been prospecting since 1868, and he had no fixed place of residence. And he never married. Per application documents of 1902, he was residing Wilder, Fergus Co., MT. Per documents dated 1910, he was residing Knik, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska. Per 1900 U.S. Federal Census, residing Landusky, Chouteau Co., MT. Per 1910 U.S. Federal Census, indexed as "William Horton", residing Knik, Cook Inlet, Alaska. He was destitute and frail prior to his death on 4 June 1911 in Seldovia, Kenai-Cook Inlet Borough, Alaska. He was rooming at the home of Albert Fillmore, who cared for Lucius and arranged his burial in Seldovia Cemetery. I have found no online cemetery transcriptions for Seldovia Cemetery.
