I have a grandfather who was Karl Oskar Gustafsson Rosén, born in Orebro or Nora about 1868 then immigrated to the US about 1880. It is an interesting story as his name was originally Gustafsson but his parents divorced, and his mother and siblings all took the name Rosén. This was said to be a French name from his mother's side of the family (which always seemed to strange that there would be French in Sweden), but it was said that it where they received their dark eyes and hair from. In our family they have used Rosen, but other cousins have used Rosain, which is supposed to be closer to the actual pronunciation. Any information you have on the Rosén name in Sweden would be most interesting, even if it's difficult to find a direct connection. Thank you, Carole Davis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
