The library building, now nearly completed will preserve her name and the memory of her generousity as it could be done in no other way. Mrs Mary NORTON Prendergast was born in Westfield Chautauqua Co NY, JAn 21st 1821 Her father Thomas NORTON immigrated from Utica to Westfield in 1819, He was the first cabinet maker in that section, also engaging in trade opened the first grocery in Westfield. She married Alexander Prendergast in 1847, 2 children were born to them, both dying before their parents. Dunkirk Evening Observer (Dunkirk, New York) > 1889 > December > 26 Alexander T,PRENDERGAST who inherited the large estate of his father, and resides on the property in Kiantone. He was born Feb 3, 1809, married 1847 to Mary NORTON,who was born at Westfield, Jan 21, 1821. They had 2 children, James, born June 18, 1848, is a lawyer, resides in Jamestown. and Catherine MERRITT born April 2, 1854, died at Marquette MI August 2, 1864. Andrew W.
