Author: DeeDavidson97 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.chautauqua/21282.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi the ALLEN Cemetery in Chautauqua Co NY has no trace of your family name http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychauta/CEMETERY/Allen.htm it is in the town of POLAND there is in 1830 in nearby ELLICOTT township one Michael BAUGHER one John in 1820 and 25 in 1840 is one Michael Bougher Township: Poland County: Chautauqua State: New York he is aged 60-70 male in house, 15-20, 1 female 60-70 he is listed with no other data in Sampubco will testators ist http://www.sampubco.com/wills/ny/nychautauqua1.htm BAUGHER, MICHAEL POLAND NY-7-1-367 so he must be here, but there is no record and I don't find anything else on the spelling here; his military service was for the War of 1812 Michael Baugher Meadville, Crawford, PA in 1800 census now he lives in 1800 beside HENRY BAUGHER Henry Baugher, 150 acres each, May 31, 1797, deeds executed August 25, 1813; Crawford Co PA History Henry Baugher was probably the first settler. He patented the tract in the southwest corner of the township, and afterward settled on Tracts 130 and 131. He managed to hold a settlement on both tracts by building his double log cabin just on the line, where the Marcy farm now is. Mr. Baugher was a very eccentric character.
