I have on John SPENCER: is from a Death Certificate & Biography done in 1892 of his son Reuben SPENCER (named after his grandfather) - Biography - Reuben SPENCER , was a Treasurer of Kalamazoo County Michigan making his home in Richland Twp., he was born in Chautauqua County, N. Y., December 12, 1825, and is a son of John and Betsey (CROSBY) SPENCER, natives of Connecticut. His grandfather, Reuben SPENCER, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and his fahter John did brave service in the war of 1812, being 18 years old when he joined the army. .......... Death Certificate of son Reuben SPENCER - DOD : 2 Feb 1908 in Ann Arbor, Michigan - lists parents as John & Betsey (CROSBY) SPENCER. I found a John SPENCER in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census Records of Villenova, Chautauqua Co., N. Y. - living with his wife Eliza & later with a grandson Arden SPENCER - I am not sure if it is the same John SPENCER that I am looking for as the wife was 25 years younger than John - could be 2nd wife ?
