Aug. 28. 2005: Randolph: Barbara J. Mathews, 74, of Randolph Manor, formerly of Ashville, died at 6:26 p.m. Friday (Aug. 26, 2005) in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of Robert L. “Bud” Mathews, whom she married July 3, 1948, who died Nov. 4, 1999. A lifelong area resident she was born April 6, 1931, in Jamestown, the daughter of Eldie E. and Linnea L. Wickmark Carlson. She was a graduate of Chautauqua High School. Surviving are three daughters: Cheryl Wilhelm of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Linda Mathews of Dunkirk, and Karen Bryant of Randolph; four grandchildren: Sean Carlson of Alexander City, Ala., Christopher Carlson of Ellicottville, Linnea Wilhelm of Tacoma, Wash., and Lindsay Wilhelm of Oswego; two step grandchildren: Corey Bryant of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jeremy Bryant of Ellington; three great grandchildren; and two brothers: Charles Carlson of Lakewood and Duane Carlson of Lodi, Calif., and a sister, Arlene Loomis of Bemus Point. She was preceded in death by her father in 1985 and her mother in 2004. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
