Hughes, 67, formerly of New York City, died Monday (Feb. 11, 2002) in Westfield Memorial Hospital. He was born July 25, 1934, in Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Conners Navarro. She was a retired secretary from the United Nations Building in New York City, and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville. She is survived by two sons: Kevin Hughes of Mayville and Vincent Hughes of Stockton; a daughter, Kathleen Stewart of Mayville; four grandchildren: Amanda Hughes of California, Delaney, Timothy and Shannon Stewart, all of Mayville; a sister, Christine Near of Dewittville; and four brothers: Raymond Navarro of Dewittville, Walter Navarro of Mayville, Michael Navarro of Jamestown and Richard Navarro of Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hughes; two brothers: William Hudson and Henry Navarro; and a sister, Mary Navarro. Burial will be in Mayville Cemetery.
