Schmidt, 78, of 3274 Turner Road, formerly of West Seneca and Colden, died at 8:50 p.m. Friday (Jan. 9, 2004) in WCA Hospital. He was born March 2, 1925, in Gardenville, N.Y., the son of Henry and Elizabeth Bacher Schmidt. He was a 1943 graduate of East Aurora High School. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1943 to 1945. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was owner and president of Schmidt Heating and Cooling of West Seneca. Following retirement he worked at the Fluvanna Avenue Quality Markets. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bemus Point. He is survived by his wife, the former Louise Neuburger, whom he married May 28, 1949; a son, Thomas W. Schmidt of Jamestown; a daughter, Linda Elsasser of Germany; and 12 grandchildren: He was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Schmidt. Burial will be in Hoy Sepulchre Cemetery.
