Burkhouse, 76, formerly of 152 Thayer St., died at 4 p.m.. Thursday (July 28, 2005) in Heritage Green Health Care Center, Greenhurst. A Jamestown area resident since 1954, he was born May 19, 1929, in Emricksville, Pa., the son of Charles “Irvin” and Stella Smith Burkhouse He was employed in the warehouse of S.M. Flickinger Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1990. In earlier years, he was employed in the coal mines in Pennsylvania, the former Art Metal Inc., the former Crescent Tool Co., Chautauqua Hardware and George Patti Construction Co. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1681, the Big Tree Sportsman Club, and was a social member of Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion. He loved camping at Hidden Valley Camp Grounds for 30 years, fishing and bowling. He raced cars at Rock N Roll Raceway, Frewsburg from 1956 until 1958 and at Stateline Speedway from 1958 until 1959. He is survived by three daughters: Marlene A. Comber, Barbara J. Blood and Donna R. Johnson, all of Jamestown; two sons: David A. Burkhouse of Jamestown, and Randy E. Burkhouse of Kiantone; 12 grandchildren: Sheila Jo Smith, Holly Jo Lange, James R. Comber Jr., Brian A., Bradley E. and Benjamin J. Blood, Nathan A., Nicholas J. and Michael L. Johnson, all of Jamestown, Heather A. Johnson of Goshen, Mass., E-4 Malcolm R. Johnson of Fort Riley, Kan., and Randy E. Burkhouse Jr. of Kiantone; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Claire Burkhouse of Cheasapeake, Va., and Walter Burkhouse of Edinburg, Pa. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.
