Morton, 73, of Heritage Park Health Care Center, formerly of 713 E. Second St, died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 9, 2005) in the nursing home. A Jamestown area resident most of his life, he was born June 26, 1932, in Cambridge Springs, Pa., the son of Phillip Morton and Edna Morton Ecklund. He was employed by the former Art Metal Inc., as manager of Sheas Deluxe Cleaners for 20 years, owned and operated Deluxe Cleaning Service for 10 years, Smokey's Bar and Grill and the 19th Hole. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War serving from Feb. 21, 1951, until Jan. 19, 1956. He was a member of John W. Tiffany Post 53, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved to golf and watch sports, especially football and baseball. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Higgs Carlson Morton, whom he married Oct. 26, 1986; a son Mark Morton of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Richard Morton of Baltimore, and Kelley Morton of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his stepfathe! r, Gustaf Ecklund; a sister, Eileen Liberatore; and a brother, Phillip Morton. Burial will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery.
