Rexford, 78, of Third Street, died Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2001) in her home. She born Sept. 21, 1922, in Westfield, the daughter of John and Josephine Mutch Marino. She was a graduate of Westfield Academy and the Meyer Memorial Hospital (ECMC) School of Nursing in Buffalo and attended the University of Buffalo and Fredonia State College. She was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Cadet Nursing Corp and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. She was employed as a nurse in the maternity ward at Westfield Memorial Hospital, director of nursing for the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk and retired in the late 1970’s. She was later employed as director of nursing by the Mid County Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Fla., retiring in 1991. She was member of the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield where she served as a deaconess and was active in the Women’s Society. She was active in the Girl Scouts as a troop leader, camp director f! or Camp Wood-E-Lo-Hi and as a member of the Chautauqua County Girl Scouts Council. She was also active with the YWCA of Westfield and the John W. Rogers American Legion Post 327 Auxiliary where she served as president. She is survived by three daughters: Martha Bills of Westfield, Dr. Betsy Kutrumbos of Denver and Joanne Becker of Longmont, Colo.; seven grandchildren: and two sisters: Caroline Menditto of Royal Palm Beach, Fla. and Vivian Henning of New Philadelphia, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Rexford, who died Aug. 4, 1969; and two infant brothers. Interment will be in Westfield Cemetery, Westfield.
