A native of Jamestown, she was born Sept. 14, 1920, a daughter of S. Clarence and Carrie Chamberlin Beal. She was the wife of Charles B. Magnuson, whom she married June 23, 1951. She was an honor graduate of Jamestown High School, class of 1938, and a 1942 graduate of WCA Hospital School of Nursing, where she was class president. She was a registered nurse at WCA Hospital, where she was head nurse in pediatrics until 1949 and assistant to the superintendent, Minnie Hokanson, from 1949 to 1951. She was also head nurse for the Workers Compensation Board and nurse practitioner for Dr. John Voltman from 1971 to her retirement in 1983. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Deaconess Society, Altar Society, Senior Choir, WELCA, Ladies Aid and co-leader of Olivett Circle. She was also a member of Chautauqua Blind As! sociation, Norden Womenís Club, Antique Study Club, The Marvin Community House and served on the board of directors at YWCA. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons: Peter B. Magnuson of Houston and Timothy B. Magnuson of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Kathryn, Michael, Karen and Rebecca Magnuson, all of Jamestown; and a brother, Arthur A. Beal of Fort Wayne, Ind. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Clarence, William and James Beal. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Charles D. May, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
