Groves, 86 of 4670 Kortwright Road, died Tuesday (Dec. 14, 2004) in his home. He was born March 24, 1918, in Sugar Grove, Pa., a son of John Howard and Bessie Clark Groves. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army as a cook and obtained the rank of T5 corporal. He had been employed as a civil defense operator in Niobe following World War II. He is survived by two sons: Howard E. Groves of Russell, Pa., and Larry C. Groves of Delevan N.Y.; and three grandchildren: Amy, Kelly and Jennifer Groves. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine E. Groves, who died July 6, 1999; six brothers: J. Clark, Glenn, Leon, George, Gerald and Paul Groves; and four sisters: Bessie Owens, Eleanor Darling, Cora Calanni and Ruth Busa. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery in Niobe.
