She lived in the house around the age of 5 (that would be about 1963). My grandmother bought the place from Frank Thayer. My family found a large book in the house on its (the houses) history and there was information on the railroad in the book. Grandma donated it to Myers Memorial Library in Frewsburg, it might still be there. My mom tells me that access was under the house, and that it went under the road. (Grandma had to climb under there constantly to unthaw the pipes.) (I did get a little confused about her not being allowed into the passage. That was another story about the area behind the fireplace being hollow and how my mom and her siblings always tried to talk grandma into letting them go into it.) My mom also tells me that after they bought the house, Frank would show up and hang around the barn and the garage. Mom says he was a little "lost" after his wife passed and with old age and he didn't know he wasn't supposed to be there.
