Hallberg, 71, of the Bemus Point-Ellery Road, died unexpectedly at 5:39 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 1967) at WCA Hospital. Mr. Hallberg was highway superintendent for the Town of Ellery for 14 years prior to his retirement in 1959 and had been with the department for 37 years. Born Aug. 4, 1896, in the Town of Ellery, the son of Charles and Emma Anderson Hallberg, he had been a life-long resident of that area. He was a member of the Bemus Point Methodist Church; Ellery Grange; and a charter and exempt member of the Ellery Center Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, the former Ina Peterson, whom he married June 28, 1930; three sons, Elmer Hallberg and Burtis Hallberg, both of Ellery Center; and David Hallberg, West Ellicott: eight grandchildren, Garry, Greg, Becky, Scott, Jody and John Hallberg, all of Ellery Center; Pamela and Randall Hallberg, both of West Ellicott; one brother, Fred Hallberg, Ellery Center; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Frederickson, Jamestown; and Mrs. Della Berg, Dutch Hollow Road; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Sheldon R. Peterson of the Bemus Point Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. Bearers at the funeral of Louie Hallberg were: Richard Andrews, Walter Grann, Arthur Peterson, Leland Benson, Walter Wallgren and Charles Hallberg.
