Marchiando, Sr., 96 of 79 Sturges St., died Saturday (July 23, 2005) in Heritage Green Health Care Center. He was born May 11, 1909, in Dunkirk, a son of Michaele and Loreta Saccoccia Marchiando. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing as a sheet metal worker for 27 years. He earlier had worked for several area furniture manufacturers. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. He was a member of Jamestown Moose Lodge, Gaeta Club, Marco Polo Club and Falconer Senior Citizens. He attended Adult Day Care Center. He loved to sing and write music. He had collaborated with Steve Swanson on a song entitled “Just Last Night’ which was performed at the Reg Lenna Civic Center. the other loves of his life were gardening and woodworking. Surviving are two sons, Dominic Marchiando, Jr., of Hickory, N.C. and Richard Marchiando of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Donna Peelman, of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Shauna and Heather Peelman, both of Jamestown, and John and James Marchiando of Naples; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Frank Marchiando. He was preceded in death by his first wife the former Marian VanDyck, who died Sept. 19, 1974; his second wife the former Rose Scarry, who died Dec. 11, 1994; three sisters, Florence Gualtieri, Helen Valentine and Lucy Bardo; and three brothers, Thomas, Sam and Albert Marchiando. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
