He was employed for the past six years at the Dawson Metal Co., Inc. He was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Jamestown, the son of Alem and Nora Bohall Carlson. He was a 1949 graduate of Southwestern Central High School. He had served three years with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a sergeant with a mortar unit in Korea. He was a member of the 40 & 8. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katherine Elaine Johnson Carlson, whom he married June 12, 1952; six children, Joanne Marie, Nancy Lee, Suzanne Rose, Brenda Ann, Rhonda Mae and Martin Norman Carlson; his mother, Mrs. Nora R. Bohall Carlson, Ashville; three brothers, David E. Carlson, Ashville; Leonard A. Carlson, Portland; and Harold L. Carlson, Lakewood; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth W. Carlson, Wesleyville, Pa.; Mrs. Milton B. Fardink, Mayville; and Mrs. David Harnish, Fluvanna; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, three infant children, one sister, Mrs. Ruth N. Rea, and two brothers, Adolph and Robert Carlson. Burial will be in soldiers Circle, Lake View Cemetery.Lakewood
