''Gena'' Jordan, 85, of 157 Front St., died at 6:09 p.m. Sunday, (Aug. 28, 2005) in the Lutheran Retirement Home. An area resident since 1964, she was born Feb. 16, 1920 in Sherman, the daughter of Jay F. and Louise Hart Phear. She was a graduate of Sherman Central School and earned her bachelors degree from Elmira College, Elmira, NY. Priot to retirement in 1995, she was the senior library clerk for the Southwestern Central High School where she had worked for many years. In earlier years she had been a language teacher at Cuba Central School, Friendship Central School and Southwestern Central School where she taught French for several years. She was a member of the Busti Historical Society, the Lakewood Womens Club, a member of the Elmira Club of Elmira College and spent many hours volunteering for the Lakewood Library. She is survived by a daughter, Diane L. Jordan, with whom she made her home in Lakewood, a son, Hart K. Jordan of Jamestown! ; two grandchildren: Tracy A. Cioppa of Virginia Beach, Va., and Amy L. Toy of Sussex, N.J. She was preceded in death by a half-brother, Frank W. Phear. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
