Whaley, 98, of Heritage Green Health Care Center, formerly of 25 Utica St., died at 1 a.m. Saturday June 5, 2004 in the nursing home. A Jamestown resident since 1977, she was born July 3, 1905, in Uberruhr, Germany, the daughter of Max and Wilhemina Moench, and came to the United States and Buffalo on July 4, 1928. She was a 1939 graduate of Hutchinson Central School and attended the University of Buffalo. She had been employed by the Sportservice, Inc. in Buffalo for 13 years, retiring as office manager in 1975. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and was a volunteer at the Jamestown City Hall for 10 years. She is survived by two daughters: Mary Jane Whaley of Jamestown and Rose Marie Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren: Valerie and Richard C. Smith and Kathryn Vice, all of St. Louis; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Annie Schaller of Sundyberg, Sweden. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. A private graveside service was held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in Lake View Cemetery.
