Sandy, 89, formerly of 15 Hall Ave., died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (June 7, 2003) in the Lutheran Retirement Home. A Jamestown resident since 1942, she was born Aug. 8, 1913, in Kane, Pa., the daughter of C. Emil and Anna Bengtson Carlson. She was a graduate of Kane Area High School and in earlier years was employed by the former Art Metal Inc. She had also worked the Kimblestand Inn and the former Dairy Freeze on West Third St. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and an active member of the Thule Lodge 127 VASA Order of America for 60 years, serving in the Ladies Degree Team and as the leader of the Three Crowns Children Club of Thule Lodge. She is survived by her husband, Chester L. Sandy, whom she married Sept. 11, 1942; two sons, Donald and Gail Sandy, both of Jamestown; seven grandchildren: Keith, Ryan, Amelia, Ann, John Paul, Sarah and Laura Sandy, all of Jamestown; and a brother, Herbert Carlson of Kane. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Wilson and Viola Walker; and two infant grandchildren, Daniel and Kristina Sandy. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
