He was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Buffalo, N. Y., the son of Daniel and Margaret Reed Trainor. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1937, where he lettered in basketball. He attended Alfred University Extension, where he was a member of the only undefeated basketball team at that school. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. Neil had a fifty-year advertising and marketing career,10 years at the Jamestown Post Journal and forty years with WJTN SE 93 Radio, retiring in 1998. In 1957 he opened a real estate office, serving the area over forty years. Neil officiated basketball games for more than 50 years. Surviving family members include Marie, his wife of nearly 66 years; his daughter, Kathy Trainor of Geneseo, N.Y.; his son, Kevin Trainor of Burlington, Vt; and three grandchildren: Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.
