Messina, 76, of 12 Barrows St., died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday (June 10, 2007), in WCA Hospital. John was born in Dunkirk, N.Y., on March 26, 1931, the son of Anthony and Mary Agnello Messina. He was employed as a spot welder for 16 years at Jamestown Metal Corp., retiring in 1994 and was previously employed at Chautauqua Hardware. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 and earned the China Service, Japanese Occupation, Korean Service and United Nations Medals. John was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a former member of the John W. Tiffany Post 53 and the Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Perry Messina, whom he married on Nov. 27, 1952 in St. James Catholic Church; a son, Perry (Sharon) Messina, Jamestown; two daughters: Cindy Sajdak, Jamestown and Mary (Ken) Davis, Ashville; six grandchildren: three great-grandchildren: a brother. Richard Messina, Hemet, Ca.; a sister, Millie Vitelli Ocala, Fla.; and a niece, Julie Rupe, Ocala, Fla. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.
