GATES Cody a former native of Vermont and NY, they moved to Springboro PA in 1869 where John C engaged in the same business and same room that son J.A. is now in; He was a prominent businessman there for over 16 yrs and a licensed preacher for over 25 yrs with the Baptist Church. He was the parent of 4 ch 3 were boys, He died JAn 5, 1883 His widow surviving, living with son J A . J A CODY was married in 1874 to Elizabeth CATHER a native of Lawrence Co PA born May 6 1851 by this union there were 4 ch, 3 living, Ethel D, Roy E and Edith A, Claude J died in Infancy J A's Grandfather served in the War of 1812 SOURCE; History of Crawford County, Pennsylvania : containing a history of the county, its townships, towns, villages, schools, churches ** notes; John CODY was born in VT about 1810, Alvira b NY ca 1817 J A the son is called ALFRED in census data 1880 dau Ethel is 5 only child in 1900 Ashtabula Co Ohio is John Albert CODY, wife Elizabeth and ch Roy E b Aug 1880 and Edith A July 1884 John is still in Ashtabula 1920 gone before 1930 same with wife Elizabeth I have nothing to add nor am I looking , post a followup here;
