Wickmark, 82, of 260 Schuyler St., formerly of Gerry, died at 1:11 p.m. Friday (Dec. 31, 2004) in the WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born March 30, 1922, in Falconer, the son of Herbert and Ethel Taylor Wickmark. He graduated from Frewsburg High School in 1940 and Syracuse University and New York State Ranger School at Wanakena in 1943. During World War II, he served three years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theatre, 650th Topographic Battalion, and played on the Army basketball team. He had been employed for 33 years at the Chautauqua County Highway Department, retiring in 1983 as the superintendent of highway construction. He was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Frewsburg, was a life member of the Gerry Fire Department, a member of the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion, a member of the Cassadaga County Club and the Thule Lodge. He was a former councilman for the town of Gerry and served as chairman of the Board of Assessors for the town of Gerry. He was instrumental in the formation of Little League Baseball and Cub Scouts in Gerry. He ! played in many local basketball and baseball leagues in the area. Following his retirement, he enjoyed the many winters spent with his wife in Dunedin, Fla. In addition to enjoying his family and friends, he enjoyed painting with acrylics. He is survived by his wife, Delmarie E. ''Dolly'' Carlson Wickmark, whom he married June 14, 1947, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Falconer; two sons: Jeffrey A. Wickmark of Gerry and Steven T. Wickmark of Seattle; a daughter, Cheryl A. Collins of Jamestown; eight grandchildren: four great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Wickmark of Little River, S.C.; and two sisters: his twin, Marjorie Bennett-Dilettoso of Ocala, Fla., and Doris Frederes of Merritt Island, Fla. He was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Wickmark. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
