Thought it might now be Bemus Point as some are buried there. Is there an old map that shows Ellery or is it a township? When they say "town" on the old census - does that mean township? Wonder if there are any STARR or FURLOW still in the area? My ggrandfather Lewis Monroe STARR was born there and was in the Civil War in the Navy on the steamer R.R.Cuyler. I can't seem to find any trace of him until 1880 in Iowa? He married Mary Jane FURLOW in 1858.-
