Still trying to ascertain. He died 3-7-1903 in CHeboygan, MI. He enrolled 12-1863 in Decatur, GA for the Civil War. He applied for pension papers after the war, and a note from his cousin, William Henry Avery, living in Co of Ottawa, KS, and a brother of John's, named William F. Avery, living in Mishawaka, St Joseph CO, IN. Also mention is a half brother, George B. Avery living in Woodland, St Joseph, IN. John married Edna Lovett 12-26-1872 in Grand Ledge, Mi.John and Edna's children are: Lulu(Lula)Avery, Frederick John Avery(my grandfather),Archibald Avery, Miles(Miley)Avery,Faydette Avery and Ruby Avery. I have all of the info of whom they married, etc.
