Sienkiewicz, 77, of 4223 Lawson Road, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday May 30, 2002 in Heritage Green Health Care Center. A Jamestown-area resident since 1951, he was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Salamanca, the son of John and Mary Lukaniuk Sienkiewicz. He was a 1946 graduate of Salamanca High School, and a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. during World War II from Sept. 11, 1942 to Nov. 27, 1945. He was lineman-foreman for the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Electric Division, where he was employed for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, and was a founding member of Busti Historical Society. He is survived by two daughters: Mary J. Sienkiewicz of Amherst and Dana M. Whitmore of Jamestown; a grandson, John M. Whitmore of Jamestown; three sisters: Josephine O'Connor of Durham, N.C., Helen Hartwig of Franklinville and Marian Smith of Middletowne, Pa.; and a brother, Joseph Seine of Anna Maria, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy A. Botka Sienkiewicz, whom he married May 24, 1952, and who died Aug. 30, 1994; and two brothers: Victor Seine and Leo Sienkiewicz. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
