A lifelong area resident, he was born April 17, 1910, in the town of Ellery, the son of Clyde Wilson and Bunna May Brown Starks. He attended Maple Grove School and had been employed by Jamestown Metal Corp. for 40 years, retiring in 1974. He was an associate member of the Ira Lou Spring Post 149, American Legion, the Bemus Point Senior Citizens and the Senior Bowling League in Lakewood. He loved hunting, fishing and bowling. He is survived by his wife, Olive Louise Crandall Starks, whom he married July 24, 1937, in Bemus Point; a son, Richard G. Starks of Bemus Point; two daughters: Marlene Walrod of Jamestown and Virginia Mazonia of Arlington, Texas; seven grandchildren: Brian Walrod and Michelle Frederickson, both of Jamestown, Brenda Tarana of West Ellicott, Ginger Guichard of Cassadaga, Richard Starks Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla., Peggy Sue Bentley of Savannah, Ga., and Todd Nordine of New Orleans; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a brother, Clayton Starks of Bemus Point. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Hodom. Visitation will not be observed. Arrangements are by the Falconer Funeral Home.
