Tilyou, 95, of Charlotte Villa, Sinclairville, formerly of Cassadaga, died Sunday Aug. 29, 2004, at her daughter's home in Sinclairville. She was born May 10, 1909, in Akeley, Pa., the daughter of the late Guy E. and Mae Whatford Sumner. A Chautauqua County resident most of her life, she attended Cable Hollow and Russell schools. A full-time homemaker, she assisted her husband with the daily operation of the family dairy farm. Following her retirement from the farm, she worked at Ame's Luncheon and the White Horse Inn in Cassadaga. She was a member of the Cassadaga Guild, Cassadaga-Stockton-Lily Dale Senior Citizens and Sinclairville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Surviving are a daughter, Corrine "Sis" Morley of Sinclairville; a son, Warren Tilyou of Cassadaga; seven grandchildren: Joanne Carlson, Kenneth Morley and Nancy Risley, all of Sinclairville, Janet Kelly of Cassadaga, Lynda Willett of East Aurora, Douglas Tilyou of Rochester and Donna Tilyou of Orlando, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Cassius Tilyou, whom she married July 17, 1926, and who died July 9, 1991; two sisters: Mildred Gage on Jan. 9, 2002, and Grace Lane on Jan. 1, 1987; and a brother, Floyd Sumner on Dec. 3, 1996. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery, Akeley, Pa.
