Jones, Sr., 87, prominent local atorney, of 307 Monroe Street, died at 9:10 p.m. Friday(June 9, 1967) in Jamestown General Hospital. He was born Oct. 2, 1879, in Jamestown, the son of Andrew P. and Sophia Anna Morgan Jones. His wife, Aimee Cederquist Jones, whom he married in 1912, died June 17, 1966. Mr. Jones attended Ohio State University, where he studied electrical engineering and was employed by Stone Webster Co. of Boston, Mass, before turning to the practice of law. He maintained a law practice in Jamestown for more than 50 years. He had many oil interests in Montana, including the development of new oil fields. During the early part of his career, he lived with his family in Casper, Wyoming at which time he was attorney for the Crow Indian Nation. Upon his return to Jamestown, he became active in the development of a number of local manufacturing concerns. Mr. Jones was a member of the Jamestown Bar Association, and a founder and former president of the Jamestown Norden Club. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and active in the Saturday Night Club. He is survived by his son, Clayton M. Jones, Jr., local attorney: one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Marianne) Witherby, South Lincoln, Mass.: four grandchildren, Thomas G. Holder, Jr. and Miss Constance Witherby, both of South Lincoln, Mass., and Carolyn M. and Martha M. Jones, both of Jamestown; four step-grandchildren, Robert, Ann, James and Patrick Shephard, all of Jamestown. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home. Thomas E. Purcell of First Church of Christ, Scientist, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
