Haupin, 94, of Heritage Park Health Care Center, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday (July 8, 2001) in the facility. She was born July 6, 1907, in Jamestown, the daughter of Carl and Georgia Carpenter Haupin. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1931 graduate of Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing. Before retiring in 1972, she had been employed as head nurse at Buffalo General Hospital from 1937 to 1940. From 1942 to 46, she served in the U.S. Army as a captain during World War II in North Africa and the European Theater, and from 1946 to 1972 she was a occupational nurse for Columbus McKinnon Hospital in North Tonawanda. She spent most of her life in the Buffalo and North Tonawanda area. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Roy and Jack Haupin; and a sister, Dorothy Downs. Burial will be Sunset Hill Cemetery.
