Whitcomb, 68, of 208 Ahrens Ave., died at 5 p.m. Monday (Aug. 22, 2005) in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born Jan. 30, 1937, in Jamestown, the son of the late Paul L. and Anna Larson Whitcomb. He was a 1955 graduate of Jamestown High School, and a U.S. Army veteran, serving from May 1960 until May 1962 as a radio operator for the 20th Engineer Battalion during the construction of the Berlin Wall. He was employed by the Jamestown Police Department for 22 years, retiring as a lieutenant in 1981. He had also worked for Jamestown Armored Car Service and Jamestown Distributing Co. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he had served as an usher for many years. He is survived by his wife, Georgiana Sleigh Whitcomb, whom he married Jan. 9, 1960; two sons: Todd A. Whitcomb of Omaha, Neb., and Kurt A. Whitcomb of Falconer; and four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Wilson, and a brother, ! Leslie ''Bud'' Whitcomb. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
