Virginia Blvd., formerly of Ashville, died at 6:39 a.m. Friday May 23, 2003 in his home. A native of Jamestown, he was born Sept. 11, 1935, the son of Andrew D. and Olga Sturzenbecker Tellinghuisen. He owned and operated George Tellinghuisen Construction since 1963. He was a member of the Fluvanna Community Church and was active in its many building committees. He was formerly a board member for the Huntersfield Christian Training camp in Prattsville, N.Y., and served on the building committees for many area church projects. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Key Lanphere, whom he married Sept. 2, 1956, in the Ivory Baptist Church; three sons: Jerry A. Tellinghuisen of Jamestown, Randy James Tellinghuisen of New York City and Roger A. Tellinghuisen of Bemus Point; a daughter, Brenda L. Gustafson of Frewsburg; 12 grandchildren: Dawn Marie Vincent of West Ellicott, Arthur R. Sweatman Jr. of Falconer, Joshua A. and Jonathan Gilbert Tellinghuisen both of Jamestown, Jacob R., Jami C. and Andrew D. Tellinghuisen III, all of Celoron, Amy L. Gustafson of Farmingdale, N.Y., David A. and Jena M. Gustafson, both of Frewsburg, Christine J. and Jonathan W. J. Tellinghuisen, both of Wurzburg, Germany; three stepchildren, Kevin L. Sweatman of Bemus Point, Shawn M. Sweatman of Mt. Airy, N.C., and Michael S. Sweatman of Putnam, Conn.; seven great-grandchildren and two brothers: Norman C. Tellinghuisen of Ashville, and John A. Tellinghuisen of Petaluma, Calif. Besides his father who died May 4, 1991, and his mother who died April 10, 1981, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky-Kay Sweatman on Jan. 24, 1991; a sister Martha P. LaRusch, Feb. 5, 1993; three brothers: Donald W. Tellinghuisen, March 18, 1933, Victor A. Tellinghuisen, Aug. 21, 1940, and Edward Tellinghuisen, Dec. 12, 1985. Burial will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery.
