Swanson, 67, of 48 Almet Ave., died at 10:46 p.m. Monday Nov. 3. 2003 in WCA Hospital. A lifelong pare resident, she was born Jan. 16, 1936, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Theodore and Dorothy Hallquist Swanson. She was a 1954 graduate of Jamestown High School. Earlier, she had been employed by Sears as display manager, and for the last 35 years had operated Thousand Pines Nursery. She loved nature, landscaping, gardening and animals, especially cats. She was a very kindhearted and loving person who was very fond of her niece, Jodi Howard, and her great-nephew, Alex Howard. She is survived by her companion of more than 50 years, Roger H. Johnson, with whom she made her home; and a sister, Joy Thompson of Jamestown. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer, The Rev. Dayle Keefer, pastor of Fluvanna Community Church, will officiate.
