Kesby, 57, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday May 12, 1979 in Lakeland, Fla., General Hospital following a motorcycle accident on U.S. Route 27 near Sebring, Fla. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator in road construction for many years. A life-long area resident, Kesby was born in the town of Ellery, Oct. 28, 1921, the son of Irving W. and Ina Newbury Kesby. Kesby was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Jamestown. Surviving are his wife, the former Janet Parker; four daughters, Wendy Chapman, Lisa Engdahl and Becky Swanson, all of Jamestown and Dora Lutgen, at home; a son, Darren Kesby, also at home; four grandchildren; four sisters, Martha J. Kolstee, Maple Springs, Verna Gustafson, Jamestown, Belle Shepard, Bemus Point and Ethelyn Seastrom, Ellery Center; five brothers, Maurice Kesby, Jamestown, Roy Kesby, Dewittville and Irving Kesby Jr., Donald Kesby and Roger Kesby, all of Ellery. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
