Woleben, 88, of Webster Road, Brocton died Tuesday (Jan. 25. 2005) at home with his family at his side. He was born Nov. 12, 1916 in Portland, the son of the late Jay and Bernice (Wilber) Woleben. A resident of the Brocton/Portland area for most of his life, Mr. Woleben was a Pvt. 1st Class, U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945, serving in the European Theater. He received the European Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal .Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Elsie C. (Saunders) Woleben, whom he married Feb. 28, 1942; two sons, Fred Woleben of Jamestown and Roger Woleben of Knightdale, N.C.; two daughters, Florence Dotson of Bemus Point and Marjorie Carlson of Cassadaga; one brother, Ferris Woleben of Westfield; one sister, Leona Tranquist of Portland; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harlow, Arthur, Deforest and Cla! rence Woleben; a grandson, Craig Woleben; and a great-granddaughter, Misty Michelle Montgomery.
