Giddy, 75, of 218 E. Pearl St., died at 10:28 p.m. Monday (Oct. 24, 2005) in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born April 2, 1930, in Jamestown, the son of Reginald and Eva Becker Giddy. He was a 1949 graduate of Falconer High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 in the Mediterranean aboard the USS Adirondack and USS Mt. Olympus. While serving in the Navy, he schooled in Philadelphia, and Norfolk, Va. He also received the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Navy Occupation Medal. He was employed by Lilly Industries for 41 1/2 years, retiring in 1992, as a shipping clerk. He was a member of the Henry Mosher Post 638, American Legion, a charter member of Falconer Area Junior Chamber of Commerce where he served as internal vice president. He also was a member of First Baptist Church of Falconer, the ARRP and Local Union 1010. He also served as a trustee for the Village of Falconer for six years, and on the Ellicott Town Planning Board as chairman. An avid sportsman in youth, and in later years he enjoyed playing baseball, playing for the Kennedy Town Team and Falconer Town Team, of which he was an All-Star. He also coached minor league baseball for Falconer Little League. He is survived by his wife, Carol J. LeRoy Giddy, whom he married July 14, 1951, in First Baptist Church of Falconer; a son, Robert W. Giddy of Sellersville, Pa.; four daughters: Karen Pfeffer of Busti, Joy Wysard of Mountain Top, Pa., Becky Weber of Frewsburg, and Merry Tordoff of Bemus Point; 11 grandchildren: Brooke Wysard of Mountain Top, Amber, Jordan, Jacqueline and Casey Giddy, all of Sellersville, Jefrfrey Wright II of Buffalo, Darren Wright of Los Angeles, Kimberly Weber of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Nicole Weber of Frewsburg, and Ashley and Brett Tordoff, both of Bemus Point; two step-granddaughters: Beth Kresge of Jamestown, and Amy Albright of Pittsburgh; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Geraldine Wetsel of Denver. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Allen Giddy, who died in 1955. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.
