    3. Hi Listers, I am joining this List to see if there were any GUNTHER families in the area in the 1850s or earlier (and later than 1850s). My great grandfather had an address of a possible relative called Fritz GUNTHER. The address was vertually unreadable but the place ended with "-auqua" plus waht looked like "Junction" and the readable part said "via Rochester, New York, USA". There may have been a family lead by a Carl or Charles GUNTHER (my great great grandfather) who was possibly from a German speaking part of Poland. It is believed he fled Poland and lived for a while in Switzerland, then the UK and may have moved on the States. While in Switzerland my great grandfather was born. Later while in the UK he is believed to have ran away and joined the British army. After serving in the army for about 11 years he settled in north Wales where he married and the rest is family history. However, no trace of him or his family can be found in the UK in 1851. Any information on GUNTHERS in Chautauqua would be gratefully welcomed. Best wishes, Charles
