She was born Oct. 17, 1904, in Utica, a daughter of John and Bertha Smith Jenkins. She was a 1923 graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years, she had been employed by the Jamestown Department of Social Services, and also was the co-proprietor of the Trading Post Hardware Store in Lakewood, which she had operated with her late husband. She was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church and was a former member of the Lakewood Women's Club and the Lakewood Senior Citizens. She was an avid reader and gardener. With the help of her part-time caretakers, Vannie Lundquist and Richard Elmeer, she was able to enjoy an independent lifestyle throughout her golden years. Surviving are a daughter, Caryl Vander Molen of Lakewood; a son, Charles F. Mullard Jr., of Lakewood; five grandchildren: Jon Vander Molen of Lakewood, Nancy Vander Molen of Lancaster, Pa., Melanie Eddy of Panama, Timothy Mullard of Jamestown, and Suzanne Slowey of N. Canton, Ohio.; two step grandchildren: Shawn Hill of Lakewood and Billy Lou Denk of Florida; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Mullard Sr., whom she married May 15, 1926, and who died March 25, 1995; two sisters: Lillian Lundquist and Florence J. Johnson; and a brother, James Jenkins, Sr. A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced.
