Nixon, 70, of 23 W. Third St., died at 3:41 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 1, 2004) in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Jamestown, the son of Estella Briggs Nixon and the late Cleo H. Nixon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. In earlier years, he had been a landscaper and housepainter and in later years, was employed by the former Falconer Glass Industries and the former Watson Manufacturing. He was a member of the Jamestown, Corry and Lakeshore Coin Clubs. An avid hunter and fisherman, he had also always enjoyed antiques and flea markets. Carl's family has requested that as a memorial, friends donate the gift of time by giving someone a ride to an activity or by taking someone fishing. Besides his mother, Estella McIntyre, and stepfather, Arnold McIntyre, both of Chautauqua, he is survived by a son, Cleo Nixon of Panama; four daughters: Debbie Nixon of Rochester, and Bonnie Nixon, Brenda Dominey and Connie Mahar, all of Jamestown; a stepson, Herman Williams of Jamestown; a stepdaughter, Patricia Carlson of Jamestown; 14 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; three brothers: Richard Nixon of Florida, Ronald Nixon of Jamestown and Wesley McIntyre of Chautauqua; a sister, Helen Felt of Jamestown; and his companion Theresa Kibler of Jamestown. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Cleo Jr. and Alvin Nixon. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
