Author: DrMarkCarr Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.chautauqua/3860.4009.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have information on the Sarah A Barnard. She was married to my great great grandfather Andrew Jackson Carr. Sarah is reported to have been born in Atica, Utica New York 12 Dec. 1830. She was married to Andrew Jackson Carr who was born in Cherry Creek, NY2 Apr 1824. They were Quakers and I have her Quaker bonnet. The couple had 3 children, Minerva, George and Edward. Edward was my G Grandfather. The couple moved to Waterloo IA in about 1853 then on to Point Pleasant IA some time before 1869. At that time Sarah broke with her Quaker tradition and joined the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At Point Pleasant IA in 1869 there was a lot of missionary work being done among the RLDS church members. The Hammer family was involved with Joseph and Minerva Carr Hammer joining the church and moving to Allendale MO in 1867. Minerva Carr Hammer was the sister of Edward and George Carr and the daughter of Andrew Jackson Carr and Sarah Barnard Carr. The! Carr family moved to Allendale Mo with the Pinkerton family and the became the core of the RLDS movement in Allendale. In your request you mentioned the Blodgett family who was not part of the Carr family at that time. The Blodgetts were LDS and had moved from Ohio to Salt Lake City in 1847. They split with the church and joined the RLDS movement in the early 1860s. They then moved to TOele UT and then on to Sacramento CA where a daughter, Sarepta Maria, was born. THe family moved back to Missouri in 1867 settling in the old Far West area of early church history fame. THere Andrew Jackson Blodgett , Sarepta's father, began gathering disgruntled LDS members together to form RLDS congregations. He did this at Far West, Stewartsville, Cameron and a congregation north of Cameron then finally moving to Allendale. Once at Allendale Sarept and Edward fell in love and were married in 1880 but after three children, only one of which survived to adulthood, Sarepta died. Edward then married Laura Robertson in 1887 and to this union 5 children were born; Audentia, Ruth, Alma, Ransom, and my gran! dfather, Dewey. Dewey married Margaret Scroggie in 1918 and Dewey passed away in 1974. Margaret died in 2004 at the age of 104. I have much more information and pictures as I am the unofficial family historian. I hope this helps your search. Sincerely; Dr. Mark L. Carr mlcarr@centurytel.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: TKachermeyer Surnames: Joseph Kachermeyer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.chautauqua/12767.2.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Dear ddlhorst, We have been searching for you for a long time. I am so excited to find you. I am so sorry to hear that Donna and Joseph's children were placed in an orphanage after she died. I have done a lot of research on trying to find out what happened to Joseph. It will remain an unsolved mystery, I believe. I do know that after Donna died, from Tuberculosis, he moved south to either Virginia or West Virgina and re-married. Had 3 more children, Eugene, Ruby and Thelma, Eugene was my husband's father. (Joseph was his Grandfather that he never knew). Joseph just "disappeared" when Eugene was a child. His second wife eventually had him declared legally dead. The 3 children never knew what happened to their father either. We must share information, get together, and meet. There are a bunch of cousins out here that would like to meet you. Are you Clarence's child or Richard's? I think that the saddest information that I found, (besides finding out that your dad was raised in an orphanage) was that Eugene never knew that he had two "brother's". And also that fact that they all served in WWII. He would have loved to have met them. He died in 1994. Your father and uncle died in 1977, I believe. I would be most happy to share what information I have. I just haven't had time to post it on ancestry yet. Please contact me. Looking forward to hearing from you.
