I have a new theory. Maybe the "A" in Josephine A Bond is "Allen", and her mother in 1902 gave her name as Josephine Allen excluding her last name of Bond. Thanks again for all of the assistance. Erik
I am very curios about the article from 1902 about Mary Wethey going insane on a train to Auburn. She told authorities that she was having problems with her daughter Josephine Allen in Fredonia. I have not been able to find a Josephine Allen in Fredonia and it now appears that she was actually Josephine Bond. Thank you for all of the wonderful information. The new information also led me to Josephine's sister Fidelia Wethey who married Charles Elger. Only one more Wethey to track down now. 19 may 1928 Dunkirk Observer Funeral of Mrs Josephine Bond The funeral of Mrs Josephine Bond, a former resident of Fredonia, will be held this afternoon with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery at Fredonia. Mrs's Bonds death occurred Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs Albert Trewiler of Silver Creek. The funeral will be held from the Trewiler home on the Lake road this afternoon. Rev Joseph Lindsay of the Presbyterian church in Silver Creek will officiate. Mrs Bond was born sixty-seven years ago at Port Byron, NY and spent most of her yought in that vicinity and in Auburn, NY. Twenty eight years ago, she moved hwith her husband, the late Henry Bond, to Fredonia and lived there until his death fourteen years ago when she went to live with her daughter, Mrs Treviler. Another daughter, Mrs Albert Miller of Auburn and one brother, Eugene Withey, also survive. However this record also lists her bithdate as 08 Oct 1860 in Port Byron, Cayuga, NY. The birth location is correct, but the date seems off to me based on the census. It was posted by an unnamed member, so I have no way of digging further on that. Oliver Wethey's father was Nelson Buck, who was later killed in the Nelson Buck Massacre in Nebraska. Mary and Fidelia returned to Cayuga County from Washington State shortly after the 1900 Census and lived in Auburn along with Eugene. I believe that Mary died sometime around 1902 when I found an article about her going insane on a train from Fredonia to Auburn. Eugene died in 1932 in Auburn and I have not been able to determine death dates for Jame, Fidelia or Josephine. Hello, I am trying to learn more about a relative named Josephine (Wethey) Allen. She was born in about 1857 in Port Byron, Cayuga County, NY and was believed to live in Fredonia in about 1902. I do not know her husbands name, but there was an article in 1902 about her mother, Mary Wethey, going insane on a train to Auburn, NY and telling authorities that she was having problems with her daughter, Josephine Wethey, in Fredonia. This is the only clue that I have after the 1880 Ceneus when Josephine was unmarried and living in Auburn. I have tried without success to find Josephine Allen in the Census in 1900, 1910 and 1920. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks, Erik
