Son Jacob is listed as being born in Buffalo in 1895 according to WWI draft registration lists found on ancestry.com. Both obits are also on ancestry. Magdalena's mentions a sister, Mrs Timm Gooderman of Dunkirk. If you live in the area, you might want to go the the Buffalo public library and check out the WNYGS collection. Within a few minutes of two o'clock, the prisoner, clad in his grave habiliments, was led under the gallows, and commended to God, in prayer, by Rev. M. Curry. Rising from his knees, DOUGLAS then addressed a few words to the spectators, affirming that he and the man he was to suffer for, were good friends - he had, no spirit of animosity against CUNNINGHAM, and did not intend to take his life. He said that he forgave all men - that he had been treated kinkly by the Sherif[f], Mr. STONE - that his counsel, Messrs. Two little fellows, a son of T.C. MOSS and Dr. ROOD, went to the woods last Saturday [April 27, 1895] and dug some roots which they ate quite freely of. Soon after their return home they were taken violently sick but prompt medical aid brought the out of it in a few hours. They had eaten some roots that were very poisonous. The irrepressible G.S. OWEN had no sooner disposed of his clothing store than he had rented another building - the RYCKMAN store - and is opening up a shoe store. James THRONE left for Wisconsin yesterday morning where he will engage in the cutting of grape basket bottoms in a mill belonging to Dr. DICKSON of Westfield. The village loafer is putting in his time these days watching the moving of the old Brocton House and speculating upon whether it will remain intact until the new site alongside of the old hotel barn is reached. Its progress is slow as the building is very heavy. Fredonia parties wanted $200 to move it, but Seth DYE, a veteran at the business, said he would do the work for half that sum. As Mr. DYE has already spent more than a week at the job, it is surmised that he is a trifle sorry that the Fredonia men did not get it. Operations are suspended now owing to the breaking of an axle of one of the trucks and the country is being scoured to find a suitable stick to make a new one. There is a case of measles in town, the first one in many months, the patient being Miss. Ida ISRAELSON who is stopping at the home of W. I. THAYER. She contracted the disease while on a visit to friends in Westfield. She has been very ill. Mr. W. C. RUGG has bought out O. FELT's bakery business and will take possession on Wednesday [May 1, 1895]. Wm. GULICK has rented his father's farm at North Clymer and moves to that place to-day. 3. Hi Dawn; Thank you again for your kind response. That was exactly what I was thinking...that Luke and wife are in Mina Corners Cemetery, but not inventoried. The census shows him living with his son, Horace, who along with his family are buried there, it only seems logical that Horace would have buried his parents there!! Luke Grover died on 02/05/1877 and his wife, Isabel Foster, died 4 years later in 1881...both in Mina, NY. Yes, I have learned in my Grover quest to be patient...hehe. 3. Hi Dawn; WOW...that is a lot of information in a very short period of time...THANKS!!! From my research, I also know that it is very accurate. Horace Grover and my GGrandfather, Orin(Oran, Orrin) were brothers and both were born in Barre, Genesee, NY. I already have copies of the documents you mentioned. Luke Grover was actually Mina Town supervisor in 1850, 1856, 1857 and again in 1877...the year he died. I am primarily looking now for an Obit or cemetery records that indicate where he is buried (Mina?). I am not subscribed to ancestry.com, but is it possible to email me the "extensive family tree" that you mentioned??? Thank you again for your very kind response!!! God Bless... George G. 3. I have been able to trace my Grover genealogy back 5 generations with documented photos of their tombstones (NY, VT, MO), EXCEPT my GGGrandfather, LUKE GROVER. I thought his would be the easiest gravesite to locate, as he was a very prominent citizen of Mina, NY and died in Mina, Chaut. Co., NY on 02/05/1877, however, no luck so far. I have researched all of the on-line cemetery sites with negative results. PLEASE HELP ME!!! His son Horace Grover & family are buried in Mina Cemetery, but I can't find any information on LUKE

    3. Try searching for a Maurice Burgess of, possibly, Portland, NY - that's where he lived when he was in Brocton Central School system with me. The last year I went to that school was 1956 and he there at that time. ----- Original Message ----- From: <nychauta-request@rootsweb.com> To: <nychauta@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2009 3:01 AM Subject: NYCHAUTA Digest, Vol 4, Issue 7 Today's Topics: 1. He had two siblings, Ida and Genie. They are listed in the 1880 census for Ripley, Chautauqua, New York. He may have married my great-aunt. Burgess, married to Lula M, in Olean, NY in the 1910, 1920 & 1930 censuses. Children listed in 1930 are: Emma A Burgess 25 Maxine M Burgess 24 Willard X Burgess 21 Josephine M Burgess 19 John F Burgess 17 They lived on Eleventh St in that census. It indicates Fred was 25 and Lulu 18 when they married. That census indicates they and all the above children were born in NY. Fred and son Willard are listed as painters. Emma, Maxine and Josephine are listed as salesladies in dept./retail stores. There is a son, Lewis, 20 in 1920 and a glass packer in a factory. His name is spelled Louis in the 1910 census. The 1910 & 1920 census indicates he was born in Indiana. The 1910 census shows Pennsylvania as the birthplace for Emma, Maxine, Willard and Fred. It also shows both of Fred's parents born in Massachusetts. It lists Fred as a salesman in a tea store. If you would like to see the census pages, let me know and I could download them and send them to you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
