Robert's last name is listed as GOATE in the 1900, 1910, & 1920 Chautauqua County, New York Census, but as GRATE in the 1930 census. In 1920 & 1930, he is listed with his wife, Laura L. (ba.1895/94) and his daughter, Anna Laura (b.21 Aug 1917 - South Pomfret). The Evening Observer, Dunkirk, in addition to providing Anna Laura's birth announcement, also added: Mrs Orlando Brown is caring for her. The name, Anna Laura, was provided by an inscription in my G-F's Bible, she was his natural niece. John W. LEE & Elizabeth LEE were unrelated except as in-laws. Can not account for the 1930 name change, whether it was deliberate on Robby's part or a typo by the census taker. My older cousins in and around Fredonia remember Robby, however they don't recall what became of him in later years. This search was originally launched over a year ago on 2 Jan 2008 on Message Board: Pine Grove Cemetery - Corry. The second name search on this same posting yielded a new found cousin from Arkansas and solved most of our family's name issues, very successful. Mrs. Kennon who was a former resident of Falconer is now living with her son, William G. Ireland at Brocton.
