Most issues from 1920-1950 are present. Little else is available online. The Chau Genealogical Society has indexed many of the local papers in book form. In particular, the Fredonia Censor prior to 1900. I think the dunkirk observer starts in 1895. The Mormons have microfilmed several volumes and can be ordered for viewing at any Family History Center. This board also had someone posting data from cororner's reports a year or so ago. A search of the archives might turn them up. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Dear list. Thomas Mawhir (b. 1809 in Ireland; died 1889, Chautauqua County) is one my wife's 3G Grandfathers. By happy coincidence, [reference to it is noted in the margin of his daughter Mary J. Mawhir's 1882 passport application] I have found what I believe is a good cite for Thomas' naturalization record, as follows: Thomas Mawhir New York Supreme Court, Chautauqua County July 25, 1856 I would be most grateful if someone could look at the Court records (or perhaps a separate listing of naturalizations appears somewhere) and check and copy [digital photo is likely the easiest way] this naturalization record, if it exists. I was in Chautauqua County last summer, but, unfortunately I didn't pick up the above described clue until today! Thanks in advance. Jack Fallin Walnut Creek, CA

She married a George Hunt and I remember her Son Art and his wife Berdina and there son Hiram . I can't find where Kate is buried either then she would be the last of the children I would have accounted for. So thank you again I was confused by "Minnie" or Philomena but that is the same person then also her husband's name was similar. We used to live on King street many years ago too. So I know the area. I can't pull up her obit on ancestry, that period seems to be missing, but here is an extract from the series "Genealogical Information Reported in the Dunkirk Observer 1945-1950". Van Wey, Philomena T d 08 apr 1949 location: 251 King St b. PA h. Pilo deceased children: Louis, Daniel, Norman, Edward plus more brother: J Kachermeyer burial: St Mary's Cemetery There is also a daughter, born 7 mar 1919 (likely Arlene). Husband's Philo's obit of 1930 lists her name as Minnie with children Louis, Daniel, Norman, Edward, and Arlene. Obit for Mrs Wolfgang Kachermeyer, 6 oct 1917, lists a daughter Mrs P H Van Wey Obit for Benedict lists her as a sister, Mrs Phil Van Wey. Obit for Mary (Kachermeyer) Crane lists a sister, Mrs Minnie Van Wey Her death certificate should be at the Dunkirk City Clerk office and list her parents. Since more than 50 years have passed, anyone can get a copy. Unless things have changed recently, be prepared for them to deny you access to the record or to deny they have the record. They tried that stunt on me on multiple occasions. I made them go back and check again and gosh, they found them. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. For those interested, here is the answer; "Where is Gage's Gulf?" Kelly Miller Kindred Roots Genealogical Society http://kindredroots.com Dear Kelly, Gage’s Gulf is the gorge surrounding Belson Creek in the Town of Ripley, NY. Belson Creek is a tributary to wentymile Creek. State Route 76 crosses the Gulf between Greenbush Road and Ripley Side Hill Road. Chautauqua County as aerial maps of the entire county on the web. Chautauquagis.com is the website. You should be able to find it on that map by finding Belson Creek just upstream from Twentymile Creek in the Town of Ripley. I hope that this is helpful. I appreciate the help I have received from the list on my last related query, but the central questions I posed are still not answered. What I am hoping is that someone on the list has access to some of the local Kiantone data repositories like the local libraries/historical societies, and that this local data might shed some light on how Laura Bratt fits into the Bratt family line, and that it might confirm that she married Ransom Akin. I am also very hopeful that someone on the list can find out who the Laura/Lura/Lucy Akin was that married Freeland Morey in 1844. I show her to be the daughter of Edward Akin and Lura Wilcox, but I am coming to the belief that she does not belong to these parents. The Will of Edward Akin written in 1880 lists his children and does not list a Laura Morey. I have found this Laura (Akin) Morey in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 census, but I cannot find her in 1880 even though she would be only 56 years old which means that odds are she had not yet died. If I can prove she was alive in 1880, then I will know that she does not belong as a child of Edward Akin since she was not listed as an heir. Or, if someone can find her birth records or marriage records, some hint of parentage might exist. I have covered as many of the sources of internet data that I can think of and have not been able to answer these questions. I would appreciate any help that you all can give to me. Larry
