She was born Sept. 24, 1901, in Clarington, Pa., the daughter of William and Hattie Cook Rossey. She was employed by Royal Upholstery as a seamstress, and in earlier years by Fashion Clothes. She was a member of Salvation Army and its Ladies Aide Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erick T. Vicklund, whom she married Dec. 23, 1937, and who died Aug. 17, 1992; three brothers: Raymond, Banks and Calvin Rossey; and four sisters: Verla Ishman, Mabel Brown, Ila Kent and Aldine Clark. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Retirement Home. The Rev. J. Kenneth Soderquist, chaplain of Lutheran Retirement Home, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Stevens of Jamestown, Calif., Robert E. DeVlieger of Panama and Bert E. DeVlieger Jr. of Elmira; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great grandson, Devin DeVlieger; and a sister, Clara Belle Ahlgren. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

He was a member and past commander of Samuel M. Porter Camp, Spanish-American War Veterans; a member of V.F.W. Post 51; and an honorary member of Mr. Tabor Lodge, I.O.O.F. She was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church of Denton Corners; Dewittville Grange which she served as secretary at the time of her death; Friendly Club of North Ellery-Denton and was active many years in the Dramatic Club. Mrs. Cross worked as a practical nurse for many years. She took an active part in community affairs and had a wide circle of friends. She was always willing to give a helping hand to her family, friends and neighbors. Besides her husband, she is survived by three dauthers, Mrs. Eleanor Martin, Jamestown; Miss Adelaide Cross, Dewittville; and Mrs. George Van Atter, Mayville; one son, Lyle Cross, Dewittville; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson and one sister, Mrs. Alma A. Harvey. Burial will be in Mayville Cemetery.

His father’s given name is not remembered, but his mother’s maiden name was Sally Shaddon. Mr. L. lived for eight years in South Carolina and for some time in Cayuga and Genesee counties, in this state, after his majority. He m. Mrs. Margaret D. Goldsborough, wid. Of Joseph GGOLDSBOROUGH, dau. of Hugh and Mary Smith Campbell, and sister of Hon. Thomas B. CAMPBELL of Westfield, this county, march 26, 1811, at Scipio, Cayuga County. Mrs. L. was b. at Alexandria, Grafton County, N. H., May 3, 1781. They removed to this county from Batavia, this state, in 1823, and lived for a year and a half on the Vorce farm, west of Westfield, a part of that time keeping tavern, but removed to P. in March 1825, settling on p’t of lot 38, T. 5, buying of Philip Kane. They occupied a log house midway between the north and south roads, on the line of McMahan’s road. Mr. L. d. there Oct. 21, 1830, a! nd was bu. in Evergreen cemetery. The first marble stone placed in these grounds was at the head of his grave. After the death of Mr. L., the family built a frame house on the north road where they lived for many years. Mrs. L. d. there May 21, 1873, aged 92 years, lacking three days. Mr. L. was Presbyterian in religious sentiment; in politics a whig and anti-mason. Family of Mr. and Mrs. Leech – MARY ANN GOLDSBOROUGH: a dau. by Mrs. L’s first m.; b. in Scipio, Cayuga Co., Aug. 18, 1803; m. John S. Coon in P. May 5, 1837; settled upon the homestead; d. there April 28, 1873. SALLY LOUISA: an own dau.; b. in Genoa, Cayuga county, May 1, 1812; still living upon the homestead, the only remaining member of the family. NOTE: Robert kept a tavern and was a storekeeper. After his death, his wife Margaret kept a journal, which is at the Chautauqua County Historical Society in Westfield. Also the account book of Robert Leech is deposited at CCHS. Mary Ann and John S. Coon had adopted son Francis McGennis bc 1845 in Ireland. Sally Leech is on the 1875 census as Sally LUCH residing with her brother –in –law J S Coon and a male servant- R. McFadden

Mr. West lived for some years in Hanover and Westfield, this county, but eventually purchased the Calvin Barnes estate, where he now resides. Mr. W. during a long residence in P. has been actively identified with the political movements in town and often honored with places of trust by the people; was justice of the peace two terms and assessor for several years. He is a member of the Methodist church, and politically a republican. From 1830 to 1835 he commanded a military company called the Rangers. Mrs. W. d. June 14, 1872. A Westfield resident since 1957, she had been employed by the former W T Grant and Ben Franklin Store of Westfield, and as a coordinator and file clerk by the Office of the Aging. Besides her mother of Batavia, she is survived by four sons: James Richard Wassell of Erie, Kenneth William Wassell of Forestville, Daniel Alan and Michael Howard Wassell, both of Monroe, N.Y.; two daughters: Joanne Johnson and Donna Jean Bowers, both of Versailles; 16 grandchildren; three sisters: Rosella Noble of Batavia, Carol Norton of Elba, N.Y., and Susan Kinsman of Siloam Springs, Ark.; and two brothers: Gerald Madill of Buffalo and Thomas Madill of Amherst. Besides her father, she was preceded! in death by her husband, James J. Wassell, who died May 20, 1996; and an infant sister, Crystal Madill. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Westfield.

Along with her husband, she ran a grape farm in Ripley. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ripley for more than 50 years. She is survived by a son, Carl H. Little of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Justin Little of Chester Gap, Va., and Rebecca Little of Port Richey, Fla.; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Brown of North East. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George T. Little, whom she married Sept. 24, 1935, in Ripley, and who died Jan. 10, 1994. Burial will be in Quincy Rural Cemetery, Ripley.

Johnson of Hornell, with whom she made her home; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin T. Johnson, whom she married Aug. 16, 1940, and who died April 6, 1986; her second husband, Raymond C. Benson, who died May 22, 1998; and a son, William C. Sunderlin, who died in 1967. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
